ABOUT US

Hearts and Hooves of Houston was founded by Damaris Horn. A Native Texan, she has called Houston home since 2016. Her passion for horses began at age 4, with her family’s first horse Luke’s Bit O Style. Her eagerness to help others came after she was relieved of addiction in 2018. Her experience with postpartum depression led her to study the neurological effects of trauma on the brain, and seek the training necessary to lead others on their own mental health journeys.

THE HERD

Until there is no longer a need for loving homes and adequate medical care, Hearts and Hooves of Houston is dedicated to rescuing. Our current herd consists of a black Mustang named Miracle, a chestnut Belgian draft named Dolly Parton, and our newest addition, a Quarter Horse named El Guapo. We have goals to obtain more land in order to enlarge the herd, and thus serve more of our community. Come meet them in person and hear their stories- from the horse’s mouth!
